The Cottage Hill Wheaten Rooster in the photo above is the son of the Cottage Hill Wheaten Rooster in the upper right hand corner of our website.  They are Harley and Harley Jr.  We like the consistency seen in this breed.

Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

Backwoods Poultry Farm

Yes, ladies & gentlemen, we are back!  Backwoods Poultry Farm was once famous for the Cottage Hill Line of Black Copper & Wheaten Marans.  We are happy to report that we are back into the business of preserving the Cottage Hill Line of Wheaten Marans.  We now offer fertile hatching eggs from the original breeding flock of The Cottage Hill Line Wheaten Marans.  Along with this fantastic breed, we are also going to be presenting our hard work and dedication to a rare and first time offered color variety of a very old breed in the United States.  To the best of our knowledge, we are the only ones with this color variety.  We have worked very long and hard and yet have a little more work to do.  This breed is the Isabella Color Patterned Leghorn.  Backwoods Poultry Farm has also been fortunate enough to be gifted with the long time work of a Marans breed by our very dear friend, Mrs. Lynnrae Troples of Hadley, PA.  Lynnrae has sent us a breeding pair of her Troples Line of Silver Wheaten Marans.  Our intention with these Marans are to continue the breeding and work with Lynnrae in preserving them.  All credit for the genetic breeding of these birds go to Lynnrae.  We are just happy she decided to trust us in helping her preserve the breed and get it out to the public when it is ready.  Thank you for stopping by and please feel free to contact us with any questions.
