Wheaten Marans

     Backwoods Poultry Farm is the exclusive owner and breeder of The Cottage Hill Line of Wheaten Marans.  The photos above are actual birds from our breeding pens.  These birds are stunning, and our favorite to say the least.  The males have a stunning golden cape of hackle feathers.  They are distinguished from the Black Copper Marans male by the golden v-shaped color pattern on the wing when folded to the side.  These birds have pearl legs, feathered shanks, and lay just as dark of an egg as the Black Copper Marans.  The females have dark golden to a mahogany hackle feather color with fawn breast coloring and black feathers at the tip of the tail.  More information on the history of this line of Wheaten Marans is coming soon.
